Selût - Dünya'nın Kalanı #12 (Single)
September 1 - 2023
Renowned for their versatile works in both visual and musical realms, Selût emerges with this powerful collaboration, collectively narrating their story through "Dünya'nın Kalanı" (The Remains of the World). Serving as the musical finale of the "Reminder Series", an illustration series of 12 artworks that critically reflect on the tumultuous events of 2020 worldwide, the song employs a language formed by a harmonious blend of tragedy and humor, touching upon the ephemeral nature of human attention amidst media bombardment and the weight of global disasters.
"Dünya'nın Kalanı" welcomes listeners with deformed melodies unique to the Black Sea region and fragmented telephone conversations, leading them into the heart of a metaphorical fire. Selût, for the first time, collaborates with three prominent voices known for their distinct vocal styles: Tuğçe Şenoğlu, Nil İpek and Seda Erciyes. Their voices converge to create an atmosphere reminiscent of a folk song passed down through generations, painting a vivid picture of our ever-changing world and calling upon listeners to embrace the impermanence of life and the need for empathy. Throughout the song, a palpable yearning for the simplicity of childhood is deeply felt.
