Selût - Değerlim'in Hikayesi (Album)
March 21 - 2025
A manifesto of art in itself, "Değerlim'in Hikayesi" is an album brought to life with 13 illustrations, each representing a song. Selût first hinted at this artistic journey in 2019 through both music and illustration, gradually preparing listeners for the full story with a series of singles throughout the 2020s. With "Sahiden", Selût established their originality in art direction and songwriting, followed by "Ben, Keyfim ve Kahyası" (2022), "İstemem" (2023) and "Evdekiler" (2024), solidifying their place in the music scene. Among them, "Evdekiler" became an anthem with its raw storytelling on youth in Turkey, family dynamics and womanhood – its defining lyric, "Sizler uyurken, ben yaşadım" ("While you were asleep, I lived"), resonating as the inner voice of a generation.
Now, "Değerlim'in Hikayesi" completes this journey, bringing three new songs alongside lyrics already memorized by audiences on stage. The album showcases cinematic elements and Selût's deep connection to Black Sea music, blending them with Nordic vocal techniques and rich ethnic textures. The album was entirely produced by Güneş Akyürek, Selût's longtime collaborator, and recorded with the artist's trusted live band: İpek Ektaş (guitar), Saliha Turan (synth & violin) and Danae Palaka (drums). The cover art, like the album itself, is the result of a special artistic collaboration in 2024, reflecting the seamless fusion of music and visual storytelling at the core of Selût's work.
